Vintage Southern Living Ingredients:
2 cups uncooked long-grain rice |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 -2 tablespoon caraway seed |
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted |
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed chicken broth |
4 cups water |
1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste) |
1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste) |
1 (10 ounce) package frozen english peas, thawed |
Directions:
1. Saute the first 3 ingredients in butter in a Dutch oven for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. 2. Stir in broth, water, salt, and pepper; bring to a boil; cover, decrease heat, and simmer 20 minutes. 3. Add in peas; cook 5 minutes. |
