One of the simplest and best of a number of turkey stuffings I've tried. Cooking time is not given, because it depends on size of the turkey. (Time for cooking rice is included in preparation time). Ingredients:
2 cups long grain white rice |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1 cup chopped celery |
2 cloves garlic |
1/4 cup unsalted butter |
1 cup raisins |
1/2 cup dry sherry |
1 bay leaf |
1/2 teaspoon sage |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 teaspoon marjoram |
1/2 teaspoon thyme |
Directions:
1. Cook the rice in 31/2 cups water. 2. Sauté the onion through garlic in the butter. 3. Combine the rice and onion mixture with raisins through thyme, and mix thoroughly. 4. Stuff the bird just before cooking. |
