I know that everyone has made these at one time or another in their lifetime - but thought it might be interesting for the young chefs coming up to have the recipe on hand!! For a festive look, red and green cherries can also be added. Ingredients:
1/4 cup margarine |
1 (250 g) package regular marshmallows (about 40) |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
6 cups rice krispies |
Directions:
1. In a large saucean over low heat, melt margarine. Add marshmallows; stir until melted and well blended. Remove from heat. 2. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal, stirring until coated. 3. Using a lightly buttered spatula, press into a buttered 13x9 baking pan. Cool. Cut into squares. 4. You can also use 5 cups miniature marshmallow for this recipe. For chewier squares, use 5 cups cereal. 5. MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS: 6. In a large microwaveable bowl, microwave margarine at HIGH 30-60 seconds or until melted. Add marshmallow, tossing to coat. Microwave at HIGH 1 -11/2 minutes or until smooth when stirred, stirring after 45 seconds. Follow directions as above. |
