An old recipe that my mother handed down to me. If you are from MN, casseroles are called hotdish . This was served often at church get togethers. Use soy sauce as a condiment when eating. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 cup celery, chopped |
1 large onion, chopped |
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
10 1/2 ounces chicken noodle soup |
10 1/2 ounces cream of mushroom soup |
15 ounces canned peas, drained |
1 1/2 cups water |
1 1/2 cups rice, uncooked |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Brown the ground beef with onion, celery and bell pepper till veggies are soft and ground beef is no longer pink. Drain off grease. 2. Mix all ingredients together in a casserole dish and salt and pepper to taste. Cover Dish and Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. 3. * I have started to add oriental noodles, the crunchy kind on top after baking for 45 minutes and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Just adds crunch and more flavor. |
