Sakkarai or Sweet Pongal is a rice based popular dish . Ingredients:
1 c milk plus 3 1/2 c water |
1 c raw rice |
1/3 c split green bean ( mung dal ) , roasted in 1/2 tbsp butter ( optional ) |
1 c jaggery in 1/4 c water boiled until thread consistency . |
1 tbsp nuts and raisins roasted in 1 tbsp butter |
2 cardamom , crushed |
Directions:
1. Boil the milk mixed with water . 2. Add the rice and dhal to it . 3. Simmer for 10 mins . 4. Add the nuts , raisins and cardamoms . 5. Once fully cooked and sticky , mix the syrup in . 6. Serve piping HOT . |
