Got rhubarb? Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup shortening (crisco) |
1 egg |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup sour milk |
2 cups rhubarb, diced |
1/3 cup brown sugar |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 tablespoon butter |
Directions:
1. Mix sugar, shortening, egg and salt until well blended. 2. I make my own sour milk (1 cup skim milk and 1 tablespoon vinegar). 3. Let stand while preparing first ingredients. Now add flour, soda and vanilla and mix with sour milk. 4. Add rhubarb. 5. Pour in greased 8x10-inch pan. 6. Mix the 3 topping ingredients. 7. Top with brown sugar-cinnamon topping. 8. Bake 1 hour in slow oven 300 degree. |
