Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef |
2 cups soft rye breadcrumbs |
1 (10-ounce) can shredded sauerkraut, drained |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/4 cup whole milk |
1/4 cup commercial thousand island salad dressing |
1 teaspoon caraway seeds |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
2 eggs, beaten |
5 slices bacon |
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded swiss cheese |
Directions:
1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a medium bowl; stir well. Shape mixture into a 9- x 5-inch loaf; place on a rack in a lightly greased roasting pan. Arrange bacon slices over loaf. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Sprinkle cheese over meat loaf, and bake an additional 5 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. |
