An easy red wine sauce that can be used with beef, lamb, venison or even chicken. Ingredients:
1/2 small onion, minced |
2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup dry red wine |
1 (14 ounce) can beef broth (homemade is better) |
1/4 cup water |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1 pinch thyme (optional) |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Saute onion in butter 3 minutes or until browned. Add wine; cook 3 minutes. Add broth; bring to boil and cook 5 minutes. 2. Stir together water and cornstarch. Add to wine mixture and cook 1 minute until thickened. Adjust seasonings with salt and pepper and optional thyme. |
