This luscious sauce is great on ice cream and custards. Yield and servings are approximate. Found online and slightly modified. Ingredients:
1 cup red wine |
1/2 cup cherry juice |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
5 tablespoons water |
1 tablespoon cognac |
slivered almonds (optional) |
Directions:
1. Place wine and cherry juice in a saucepan.Heat to a boiling point. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. 2. Add to the boiling mixture, whisking constantly. Boil for a minute or two. 3. Remove from heat and add cognac. Add almonds, if desired. 4. Serve warm or cool. |
