A customer at the Waldorf- Astoria restaurant thought the Red cake was so good She asked the waiter if he would be so kind as to ask the Chief for the recipe. The waiter came back and said yes. On leaving the Lady looked at her check and it had a extra 500.00 dollars added to her check. She got so mad She gave out the recipe to everybody she knew. This is the one and only original Whipped Topping recipe for the Red Velvet Cake.
Ingredients:
5 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, well drained in sieve
Directions:
1. Stir flour and milk over heat until thick put aside to cool.
2. Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
3. Beat cooled milk into creamed mixture at high speed until light.
4. It should resemble whipped cream. Mix one cup of topping with.
5. pineapple and spread between cake layers. Spread remaining.
6. frosting over top and sides of cake.
