Red Cabbage With Apples

A great,tart side dish for pork roast, duck or goose
Ingredients:
2 tart apples, cored, cut in half and sliced
3 tablespoons butter
1 medium head red cabbage, coarsely shredded
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
1. In a large pot or a dutch oven, saute apples in butter for 5 minutes. Add all of the other ingredients.
2. , Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, 35-40 minutes.
