This is authentic German red cabbage. Delicious served with pork. Ingredients:
1 red cabbage sliced finely |
2 apples, chopped finely |
1/4 cup vinegar |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
1/4 cup water |
1 t. oil |
1 1/2 tsp. salt |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large skillet with a lid to medium. Add cabbage and apples and cook down slightly, stirring. DO NOT BROWN. Mix remaining ingredients together. After about 4 minutes of cooking down, add the liquid and turn the heat down to low. Simmer for two hours until the cabbage is very transparent and tender. |
