Named for the Tornado that hit Fort Worth and destroyed the Reata restaurant downtown. Now, rebuilt in a new location. From the Reata Legendary Texas Cuisine cookbook. We at Reata have learned a lot from the tornado that struck the original Fort Worth restaurant in the Bank One Tower. Now, we never forget to take a moment to sit back and enjoy the big wide-open Texas skies. Ingredients:
2 ounces tequila |
1/2 ounce blue curacao |
3 ounces reata prepared sweet-and-sour mix (recipe below) |
1/4 ounce orange juice, preferably fresh squeezed |
squeeze lime |
salt, to coat the rim of glass |
ice cube |
lime wedge, for garnish |
Directions:
1. Shake all ingredients in a drink shaker and shake gently twice. Rim a glass with the salt and add ice cubes. Pour over ice, and garnish with lime wedge. 2. Reata Sweet and Sour Mix:. 3. Makes 4 cups. 4. The secret to this mix is using a cinnamon stick to layer flavors of sweet with depths of spice. 5. 3 cups sugar. 6. 4 cups water. 7. 1 cinnamon stick. 8. 1 1/2 cups lime juice, preferably fresh squeezed. 9. In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, water and cinnamon, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then lower the heat, add the lime juice and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. When cool, remove the cinnamon stick. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate. |
