I had never had a cabbage salad with Ramen noodles but was intrigued. I planned to make a recipe on here by user mrtnzangel8 but had to improvise somewhat and this is what I came up with inspired by her Cabbage Slaw. Read more . Most recipes like this say to chill it for a while, but I ate some right away while the noodles were still crunchy and it was good! Good after chilled too, of course. Ingredients:
dressing |
1/4 cup vegetable oil |
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil |
1/4 cup sugar |
6 tbsp vinegar, i used red wine but meant to use rice wine - i was so worried but it tasted great |
bunch of fresh chives, snipped |
salad |
1 16 oz package coleslaw mix or freshly chopped equivalent |
2 packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets reserved (i used chicken flavored) |
sea salt & black pepper, freshly ground |
1/2 tsp garlic powder |
2 tbsp gomasia or plain sesame seeds/toasted |
2 tbsp almonds, sliced or slivered (toasted if you'd like) |
2 navel oranges, peeled and cut into bite size pieces |
Directions:
1. Dressing 2. Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Add 1 Ramen seasoning packet. Mix well to combine. 3. Salad 4. Crush Ramen noodles and place in a large bowl with slaw mix, Gomasio, almonds, and oranges. Pour dressing over salad and mix well. |
