This is another recipe out of my Step Father's sister's cookbook...Prep time includes cooling time... Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1 cup raisins |
1 cup cold water |
1/2 cup butter |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon clove, ground |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 cups flour, all purpose |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped |
1/4 cup flour, all purpose |
2 tablespoons butter, melted |
1 tablespoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. In a medium sauce pan over medium high heat add the sugar, raisins, water, butter, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and salt. 2. Bring to a boil and gently boil for 3 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and let cool (about 20 minutes). 4. Preheat oven to 350°. 5. Add other ingredients (except for the topping), to sauce pan and blend well. 6. Spread in greased 10x15 pan. 7. Combine all topping ingredients in a small bowl. 8. Crumble topping over and press down slightly. 9. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes. 10. Cool before cutting. |
