These are so colorful and tasty too. hope you enjoy making these . Ingredients:
1/2- cup plus 2 tablepoons butter softened |
1/2- cup packed brown sugar |
1/4- cup sugar |
1 - egg |
1- teaspoon vanilla extract |
2- cups all-purpose flour |
1/2- teaspoon each baking powder and salt |
1/8 - teaspoon baking soda |
green , red , yellow. food coloring |
milk |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl , cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy 2. add egg and vanilla 3. combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda 4. gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. 5. divide dough into 3 portions 6. tint each portion a different color. 7. roll each portion of the dough on waxed paper into a 9 inchx 5 inch rectangle pan........ freeze for 10 minutes 8. cut each rectangle in half lengthwise 9. lightly brush top of one rectangle with milk 10. top with another colored dough 11. remove waxed paper, brush top with milk 12. repeat with remaining dough, alternating the colors to make 6 layers. 13. press together lightly 14. cut in half lengthwise 15. wrap each with plastic wrap 16. refrigerate for several hours or even overnight 17. unwrap dough cut into 1/8 inch slices....... 18. place them 2-inches apart on ungreaed cookie sheets 19. bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees f. 20. cool for 1- 2 minutes before removing them from the pans to wire racks to cool completely....... 21. yields 4 dozen cookies |
