You can't get much faster than this recipe and still have a tasty and pretty cake. So easy and so good! Imperial Sugar's Recipe of the week Ingredients:
1 cup imperial sugar extra fine granulated sugar or dixie crystals extra fine granulated sugar |
1/3 cup shortening |
2 egg whites |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup milk |
1-3/4 cups sifted flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons, sifter 9 cake pan, potholder. 2. Work plan: 3. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease and flour 9 square cake pan. Put all ingredients in large mixer bowl and beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer. Empty batter into pan and bake 20 minutes. 4. Serve: 5. Mix 1/3 cup softened margarine, 2/3 cup Imperial Brown Sugar, 1/4 cup cream or evaporated milk and 1 cup shredded coconut. Spread on warm cake and place under broiler set on low heat. Broil till mixture bubbles and is lightly browned-5 to 10 minutes. Cut in squares. |
