This is a real treat for my family for breakfast. Almost like having dessert for breakfast! There is no English word for melkkos. This is a traditional Afrikaans recipe. Ingredients:
750 ml milk |
30 ml water |
125 ml cake flour |
1 ml salt |
12,5 ml margarine |
cinnamon |
extra sugar |
Directions:
1. Heat milk to boiling point. 2. Sprinkle water onto the flour. 3. Stirr with for or knife until mixture resembles crumbs. 4. Stir in the flour mixture, sugar and salt into the milk. 5. Return to heat. 6. Cook at low temperature while stirring until thickened, about 10 min. 7. Allow to cool slightly. 8. Stirr in margarine. 9. Pour into bowl. 10. Make a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. 11. Sprinkle over. 12. Serve. |
