Quick Fruit Cobbler

Came from an old cookbook I was browsing thru.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
3/4 cup self-rising flour
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
Directions:
1. .Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Pour the melted butter into a 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan.
3. Mix sugar, milk and flour together and pour mixture into butter.
4. Do not stir.
5. Pour fruit ito mixture.
6. Do not stir.
7. Bake for 45 minutes.
8. Serve warm with ice cream or cook whip.
9. Great served plain.
