Ingredients:
24 slices fresh white bread, crust removed |
1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1/2- x 1/2- x 2-inch pieces |
vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Using a rolling pin, flatten each bread slice. Place a strip of cheese on each slice. Roll up slices jellyroll fashion; wrap each roll in waxed paper. Place seam side down on a baking sheet; refrigerate 30 minutes. 2. Remove rolls from waxed paper; deep fry in hot oil (375°) until golden brown. Drain well. Serve warm with soups or stews. |
