One of my working mother recipes - quick and easy to make, and the kids love it. They still ask for it when they come home for vacations. The recipe is for one whole chicken, cut into eight. I usually double it, and for big dinners even triple it. Try it with different types of honey - each type gives it its own distinctive taste. Serve with plain white rice pilaff, and pour the chicken sauce over the rice. Usually used for the oven, it's also great as a marinade for barbecued chicken, chicken wings or chicken breasts. Ingredients:
1 whole chicken, cut into eight |
1 tablespoon granulated garlic |
1 tablespoon honey |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
3 tablespoons heinz hot ketchup, with tabasco sauce |
Directions:
1. Blend honey, soy sauce and ketchup until smooth. Consistency will be between a light paste or thick liquid, depending on your honey. 2. Liberally season chicken parts with granulated garlic, on both sides. 3. Spoon sauce over chicken parts, on both sides. 4. Place chicken parts skin-side up in a baking dish. 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes (don't worry if the chicken skin looks black). |
