                                                1 pound ground beef  |  
                                                1/4 teaspoon salt  |  
                                                1 (24-ounce) package frozen hash browns, thawed  |  
                                                1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup  |  
                                                1 cup sour cream  |  
                                                2 cups shredded cheddar cheese  |  
                                                1 onion, chopped  |  
                                                2 (2.8-ounce) cans french-fried onions  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In heavy skillet, cook ground beef with salt until browned, stirring to break into small pieces. With a slotted spoon, transfer to large bowl. Add hash browns, soup, sour cream, cheese and onion. Mix well. Spread in 13 x 9 x 2- inch baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle French-fried onions on top. Bake for 15 minutes, or until bubbly.                              |
