This is a blast from the past. I drank purple cows as a child, but that was many moons ago. Purple cows are a grape juice plus milk drink that is very good, especially when ice cream is added. You can make pink cows by using cranberry juice instead of the grape. I suppose, in fact, you could substitute any juice you like: orange cows, for example. But grape was always my favorite and still is! Ingredients:
2 cups milk |
1 cup bottled grape juice |
1 pint vanilla ice cream |
whipped cream (to garnish) (optional) |
maraschino cherry (to garnish) (optional) |
Directions:
1. Combine milk, grape juice, and half the ice cream in the container of an electric blender. Whirl at high speed until thick and foamy. 2. To serve: Pour into 4 tall glasses. Top with remaining ice cream, dividing evenly. Garnish with whipped cream from a pressurized can and maraschino cherries if you wish. |
