A family favorite created by my grandmother, these delicious cookies where changed from 'Christmas cookies' to 'punch bowl' because of the likeness of the cherry to punch in a bowl. Ingredients:
1/2 pound butter |
1/2 cup white sugar |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 egg yolks |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
14 candied cherries, halved, or more as needed |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet. 2. Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl until creamy and smooth; scoop by teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheet. Make an indentation in the center of each portion and insert a cherry half. 3. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are light brown, about 12 minutes. |
