This is a simple sauce that you pour over cake. (Turns a dry cake into a tasty treat.) Also works very well as a ice cream sauce. Ingredients:
3 cups hot water |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 cup brown sugar, heaping |
1/3 cup lemon juice |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and cook until thickened. 2. NOTES: You can substitute 1 tablespoon vinegar for the lemon juice. 3. I estimated the cooking time as it depends on how thick you like it. |
