My take on a party standby. This has become a must bring at gatherings. The time to make is a little misleading as most of the prep and cooking are done at the same time . . . this usually takes me 30 minutes tops. Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey |
1 cup red onion, chopped |
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
1 (10 ounce) can rotel |
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, partially drained (just pour off the liquid sitting on top) |
1 cup mayonnaise |
1 cup sour cream |
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning |
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated |
1 cup iceberg lettuce, chopped |
1 medium tomato, diced |
1/2 bunch green onion, chopped (green & white parts) |
Directions:
1. BOTTOM LAYER. 2. Brown turkey and red onions. 3. Mix in garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, parsley, rotel, and black beans. 4. Simmer 15 minutes (this is a good time to make the other two layers). 5. Spread on bottom of dish. 6. MIDDLE LAYER. 7. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream and taco seasoning. 8. Spread on top of bottom layer. 9. TOP LAYER. 10. Toss cheddar cheese, iceberg, tomatoes, and green onion to mix. 11. Sprinkle over middle layer. |
