We had a 1970s dinner party and this featured as the starter. Simple and successful. Ingredients:
500g shelled and deveined prawns, the smaller the better |
200g mayonnaise - the best you can buy/make |
50g tomato ketchup |
1 head iceberg lettuce (or romaine/cos if preferred), shredded finely |
salt & pepper (ground white pepper is best) |
tabasco sauce to taste (only one drop if you're being authentic!) |
Directions:
1. Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, tabasco, salt and pepper in a bowl 2. To assemble the dish, take 6 martini glasses (for that real 1970s touch!), and in each drop a spoon of sauce at the bottom, then layer some of the lettuce, some of the prawns and finally, a spoon more of the sauce 3. Garnish with a bit of curly parsley! |
