I got this recipe from my husbands grandmother who made it traditionally on Christmas day. She got it from The Co-Op Country News magazine isued September 3, 1979 Ingredients:
3 eggs |
2/3 cup sugar |
1 cup cold mashed potatoes |
2 tablespoons melted shortening |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 cup milk |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
Directions:
1. Beat the eggs. Add sugar and stir in potatoes, shortening and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk. Chill the dough for 1/2 to1 hour. Roll out dough to desired thickness and cut out. Fry. Makes 3-4 dozen. Enjoy!! |
