Here's a good way to use fresh produce from your garden or the farmers market. Lovage is an easy to grow unusual herb - flavor is sort of like a strong celery. Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil |
1 onion, chopped |
4 potatoes, cubed (i don't peel, but you can) |
3 cups water |
1 1/4 cups milk |
3 tbsp minced lovage, plus garnish |
salt, pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. 2. Add onions and potatoes, cook over low heat for 10 minutes. 3. Add 3 cups water, and simmer until potatoes are tender. 4. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. 5. Puree the mixture in a blender. 6. Place in a clean pot, add lovage and slowly add milk. 7. Season, and simmer until heated through. 8. Add garnish of lovage leaves before serving. |
