Very tasty pot roast recipe that my Mother used to make - I don't know where she got the recipe from, but it is very good! Ingredients:
2 lbs pot roast |
1 lb small onion |
1/4 lb small mushroom |
1 (15 ounce) can tomatoes |
1/4 cup water |
1/2 cup red wine |
1 teaspoon mixed herbs |
1/2 teaspoon sugar |
salt and pepper |
oil (for frying) |
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the meat all over. 2. Remove the meat. 3. Add onions and mushrooms to pot and saute. 4. Return meat to pot. 5. Add the tomatoes, water, wine, mixed herbs, sugar, salt and pepper. 6. Cook until tender, approximately 2 hours. 7. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before carving and serve the pot juices alongside the slices of beef. |
