We love this spread on garlic bread. It's a tradition that we have this on New Year's Eve in our house, but I've quickly whipped it up in the food processor for company in the summer when we have cookouts or picnics. This is also absolutely delicious spread on a shaved beef sandwich! Also, I usually substitute low-fat or fat free cream cheese, but you may use the fully leaded cream cheese. Ingredients:
1 lb fat free cream cheese, softened |
1 lb sharp cheddar cheese, grated fine |
1/4 cup port wine |
4 garlic cloves (minced ) |
1/2 cup chopped pecans or 1/2 cup walnuts |
minced nuts |
Directions:
1. Mix cheeses together in a food processor. 2. Mix in garlic and nuts. 3. Chill several hours. 4. Roll into ball and roll in minced nuts. 5. Serve with assorted crackers. |
