Belly-warmer on a frosty morn. This British breakfast dish is made special with the addition of bananas and raisins. Ingredients:
1 cup old fashioned oats |
2 1/2 cups water |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 tablespoon sugar |
2 bananas, sliced |
1/2 cup raisins |
1 pinch ground cinnamon |
4 teaspoons butter |
1/2 cup cold milk (or more if desired) |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, combine the oats, water, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. 2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer until the liquid has been absorbed, stirring frequently. 3. Pour into bowls, and top each with a pat of butter, bananas, raisins, and a splash of cold milk. |
