Our take on a common recipe...nothing special about it, but it's tasty! We use whatever hot peppers we've got in the garden. Ingredients:
12 jalapeno or other hot peppers, sliced lengthwise and de-seeded and ribbed, if desired to reduce heat(if using a longer pepper, cut to about 2 inch lengths, for a total of 24 halves) |
8oz cream cheese, softened |
dash of worcestershire sauce |
black pepper |
dash of juice from fresh lemon |
1lb thick cut bacon, cut in half |
---i forgot to add in the original recipes that depending on the smokiness of the bacon used and the type of pepper, we'll sometimes add a drop of liquid smoke...it brings on an almost chipotle taste |
Directions:
1. **Remember to clean peppers carefully-use gloves** 2. In small bowl, combine cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and black pepper. 3. Spread mixture into inside of each pepper half. 4. Wrap 1 bacon piece around each pepper, starting and ending so ends of bacon are on underside of pepper. 5. Grill over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until bacon and peppers begin to crisp. |
