these are quick and easy to make.. you can use smaller shiitake mushrooms and use them as an appetizer or the larger ones for a side with a dinner... the recipe is from the Abingdon Manor An Extraordinary Inn & Restaurant Latta (Florence area), South Carolina Ingredients:
small or large shiitake mushrooms depending on presentation |
12 oz. bulk pork sausage (they use hot jimmy dean) |
1/2 cup hoisin sauce (available at oriental groceries) |
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic chili sauce |
chopped fresh chives |
Directions:
1. Stem mushrooms and place stem side up on a rimmed baking sheet. 2. Mound each with sausage and cover. 3. Stir Hoisin and chili sauces in a small sauce pan over medium heat until warm and well combined. 4. Brush glaze on mushrooms (can be prepared to this point and refrigerated until ready to bake). 5. Bake in a 400 degree oven for approximately 15 minutes. 6. Sprinkle with fresh chives and serve. |
