This recipe is from an original 1910 Wisconsin Farmers' Institutes Cookbook No. 3 , that I bought in a small antique shop in eastern WI about 5-6 years ago This is how it is written....... Ingredients:
2 lbs pork (i assume they mean ground pork ) |
1 pint breadcrumbs |
2 eggs |
1 cup milk |
salt, pepper & sage (to taste ) |
Directions:
1. Soak the bread crumbs in the milk. 2. Add seasonings & eggs (unbeaten). 3. Form into a loaf with the hands & bake in a moderate (350°) oven for 2 hours. 4. Apples or potatoes are very nice cooked around the pork. |
