We usually just call these Porcupines. They are great-tasting and fun to see! This recipe is so good, I didn't have to change a thing. I got it from a Country magazine years ago. Ingredients:
1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice |
1/2 cup water |
1/3 cup chopped onion |
1 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp celery salt |
1/8 tsp black pepper |
1/8 tsp garlic powder |
1 lb. ground chuck |
2 tablespoons oil |
15 oz. tomato sauce |
1 cup water |
2 tablespoons light brown sugar |
2 tsp worcestershire |
Directions:
1. Combine the first seven ingredients. 2. Add beef and mix very well. 3. Shape into 1-1/2 balls. 4. In a large skillet, brown meatballs in oil; drain. 5. Combine rest of ingredients; pour over meatballs. 6. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour. 7. Don't eat them with mashed potatoes! |
