Poppyseed Dressing for Fruit |

A little different preparation for poppyseed dressing. This is excellent on fresh fruit. It was Grandmother's recipe. Makes a lot but it keeps well. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2/3 cup cider vinegar |
3 tablespoons onion juice |
2 teaspoons dry mustard |
2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 medium onion, chopped |
1 cup vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Rough chop onion and place in blender. Add vinegar and blend. Add remaining ingredients, except poppyseed, and blend until sugar is dissolved. Slowly add vegetable oil until emulsified. Pour into bowl and stir in poppy seeds. Refrigerate after using, but always bring to room temperature when you get dressing out of the fridge to use again. Will keep in refrigerator for several weeks. |
