Poppy Seed White Layer Cake |

Tfhis is a nice white poppy seed layer cake. Ingredients:
1/2 cup poppy seeds |
3/4 cup butter |
2 cups sifted flour |
4 egg whites (well beaten) |
1 cup milk |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2 tsp. baking powder |
1 tsp. vanilla |
cream cheese frosting |
3 oz. cream cheese at room temperature |
2 tsp. vanilla |
1/4 lb. butter |
1/2 lb. icing sugar |
Directions:
1. Soak poppy seeds in milk for 2 hours. 2. Preheat oven to 375 F. 3. Cream butter and sugar, then add milk/poppy seed mixture. Add dry ingredients and then egg whites. Bake in layer cake pans for 30 minutes in a 375 F. oven. 4. Cream Cheese Frosting: 5. Blend together well and spread on cooled cake. |
