This is a very old recipe my mother always used. Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar |
1/3 cup light corn syrup |
1/4 cup margarine |
1/3 cup water |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 quarts popped popcorn |
Directions:
1. Keep popcorn warm in 250 degree oven. 2. Cook first five ingredients over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil. 3. Continue cooking without stirring until mixture reaches 270 degrees on a candy thermometer or until a small amount dropped into very cold water separates into hard threads. 4. Add vanilla and stir. 5. Pour mixture over popped corn, mixing with a fork. 6. When cool enough to handle but still quite warm, form into balls. |
