A hot beverage is often just what we want in cold weather or at the onset of a bout of cold or flu. This hot drink offers warm spice with cloves and sweet cinnamon. Substitute 1/3 cup rum for the apple cider if you'd like an alcoholic version. Ingredients:
8 whole cloves |
2 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks |
3 cups pomegranate juice |
1/2 cup apple cider |
1/3 cup honey |
thin tangerine slices (optional) |
cinnamon sticks (optional) |
Directions:
1. Place cloves and 2 cinnamon sticks on a double layer of cheesecloth. Gather edges of cheesecloth together; tie securely. Combine cheesecloth bag, pomegranate juice, apple cider, and honey in a medium saucepan; bring to a simmer. Cover, reduce heat, and cook 30 minutes. Remove from heat; discard cheesecloth bag. Garnish beverages with tangerine slices and cinnamon sticks, if desired. Serve warm. |
