Poached Pears With Butterscotch Sauce |

This is very tasty and very refreshing. Enjoy Ingredients:
1-1/2 pounds pears peeled halved and cored |
1/4 pint white wine |
2 tablespoons caster sugar |
2 ounces butter |
3 ounces soft dark brown sugar |
2 tablespoons golden syrup |
5 ounces double cream |
fresh mint sprigs |
Directions:
1. Place wine and sugar in a saucepan and stir until dissolved. 2. Add pears then cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes turning occasionally. 3. Remove from pan and allow to cool. 4. Melt butter, brown sugar and syrup in a saucepan stirring occasionally. 5. Boil for 3 minutes then stir in the cream. 6. Serve the sauce hot or cold with the pears. |
