This is quick and easy if you don't have plum sauce on the shelf. Don't be afraid to use a different jam. It won't be traditional, however it will do the trick. Ingredients:
16 ounces plum jam (or another fruit) |
2 tablespoons vinegar |
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
2 tablespoons onions, minced finely |
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes |
1 teaspoon garlic, minced |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine jam, vinegar, brown sugar, dried onion, red pepper, garlic and ginger. 2. Bring to a boil, stirring. 3. Remove from heat. 4. If you are not using it right away and make a big batch, use standard canning procedure to be safe. |
