PLUM FRIED PIES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pryor Estate in Grapevine, Texas in 1996. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter |
8 plums peeled seeded and sliced |
1/2 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon lemon juice |
8 piece container refrigerated flaky biscuit dough |
Directions:
1. Add butter to a large sauté pan and melt. 2. Add plums, sugar, ground cinnamon and lemon juice then cook over medium heat 15 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and cool. 4. Roll biscuits out on lightly floured surface so that each biscuit forms a circle. 5. Place 3 tablespoons of the filling on 1/2 of each circle then brush edges of circle with water. 6. Fold circle over filling to make a half moon shape then seal by pressing edges with tines of fork. 7. Heat fryer half filled with oil to 350 then carefully add pies 1 at a time and fry until brown. 8. Turn pies often for even browning then drain on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
