No, it doesn't have any plums...it's not supposed to. See Mr. Webster's book for confirmation. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter, no substitutions |
2 tablespoons granulated sugar |
1 egg, well beaten |
1/2 cup molasses (either regular or light molasses is fine) |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup water, boiling |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/2 cup currants |
Directions:
1. Sift the dry ingredients together. 2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add egg and mix thoroughly. 3. Add molasses. 4. Add sifted dry ingredients alternatively to the batter with the boiling water. 5. Add raisins and currants. 6. Mix well; pour into a well-greased pudding mold and steam for 90 minutes. 7. Serve with any desired pudding sauce. |
