Here is another of those old recipes from my Mom's collection, I hope you enjoy them - Ingredients:
6 tablespoons shortening |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 egg |
1 1/2 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
3 tablespoons milk |
1/2 cup chopped dates |
1/4 cup walnuts |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar; add whole egg, beat well; add dates, nuts and vanilla; mix well. 2. Add flour and baking powder which have been sifted together. Add milk gradually as the mixture must be stiff so that the rocks will hold their shape. 3. Drop by teaspoon onto parchment-lined baking sheet. 4. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. |
