This is plagiarized from Peg Braken's I Hate to Cook Book . She says these bear the same relationship to the ordinary oatmeal cookie that the Rolls Royce does to the bicycle. Ingredients:
cream together |
1 cup shortening |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
add 1 beaten egg |
sift together |
1-1/2 cups flour |
1) tsp soda |
1) tsp cinnamon |
and add this to the first mixture. |
then add |
1-1/2 cups quick rolled oats |
3/4 cup finely crushed walnuts or peacans |
1 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Chill for an hour. 2. Put walnut sized pieces on greased cookie sheet. Butter bottom of small glass, dip it in granulated sugar and flatten the little pieces. 3. Just keep doing this. You don't need to butter the glass bottom again, just keep dipping it into the sugar. 4. Bake 350 for about 10 minutes |
