I make this a couple of different ways. Sometimes I use can tomatos or sometimes I'll buy fresh. I actually make up a lot at once, (especically with fresh products) and freeze it. Ingredients:
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes (whole, diced, whatever. diced actually makes it easier) |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 garlic clove, minced |
2 tablespoons italian seasoning |
1 teaspoon oil |
nonstick cooking spray |
1 teaspoon sugar |
Directions:
1. Spray a large pot with non stick spray or heat up the oil. 2. Add the garlic and onion to the pot and cook until the onions become soft. 3. Add the canned tomatoes and tomato paste, along with the seasoning and sugar. 4. Cook until everything is heated and the flavors come together. 5. This step is optional, use a blender to chop everything up a little better. I like mine kind of chunky, but some family members don't, so this comes in handy. 6. Add to pizza crust and bake. |
