I found this in my vast recipe collection. I haven't made it yet, but it sounds good , so I am putting it here so I can find it again. It sounds like it goes together easily, for the days when you don't want to fuss. If I use peppers, I think I would add 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic and oregano (personal preference. Ingredients:
1 pie shell, unbaked, 9-inch |
3/4 lb hot italian sausage |
3 eggs |
1 3/4 cups hot milk |
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded |
1/4 cup canned green chili, finely chopped (or red or green bell pepper) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400*. Remove sausage from casing and crumble into frying pan. Cook until brown, breaking up with a fork. Drain well. 2. Beat eggs and stir in milk, sausage, cheese and chilies (or peppers). 3. Pour into pastry shell. 4. Bake 40-45 minutes, or until knife inserted off center comes out clean. 5. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. |
