This is another of those recipes that I found while hunting a recipe to make for which I already had the ingredients on hand. This came from a little free cookbook I received several years ago called Capital Cookbooks.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
2/3 cup butter flavor shortening
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Blend butter and shortening until smooth.
3. Add both sugars and cream well.
4. Add eggs, beating after each egg.
5. Stir in vanilla.
6. Mix dry ingredients and gradually add to batter.
7. Add chocolate chips and nuts.
8. Mix well and drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.
9. Bake for 8- 10 minutes, depending on you oven.
10. Cool briefly on baking sheet then move to cooling rack to cool completely.
