A Pink Sweet & Sour Sauce as served in Chinese restaurants. Ingredients:
1 cup pineapple juice |
1/4 cup white vinegar |
1/4 cup granulated sugar |
1/8 teaspoon salt (to taste) |
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
Directions:
1. In a sauce pan, over medium heat, combine pineapple juice, white vinegar, sugar and salt. Bring to a gentle boil. Combine the cherry juice and cornstarch to make a slurry. Add the slurry into the gently boiling pineapple juice mixture. Lower the heat and stir until desired thickness. (More cornstarch may be used if a thicker sauce is desired.). |
